Anne-Sophie Doernbrack

States & Regions Policy Manager (Energy Transition)

Anne-Sophie joined The Climate Group in November 2013 and is working on our States & Regions Policy Innovation Program. She is mainly leading our Energy Transition Platform, an initiative designed to support state and regional governments in developing and implementing innovative energy policies. The Energy Transition Platform connects highly industrialized, carbon intensive states and regions, aiming to enable in-depth global peer learning on energy transition polices, overcome barriers to energy transition challenges and adopt innovative models.

Before this, Anne-Sophie was our States & Regions Manager for two years. In this role she was responsible for the membership engagement of our States & Regions Alliance. She has also been managing our Peer Forums facilitating experience sharing between state and regional governments on topics such as adaptation and clean tech innovation.

Prior to joining The Climate Group, Anne-Sophie worked at the EPFL Energy Center in Lausanne, Switzerland, where she was Bioenergy and Sustainability Project Manager with responsibility for the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials – a global multi-stakeholder initiative developing a sustainability certification standard for biofuels. Anne-Sophie worked together with partners from government agencies, the private sector, civil society and consultancies focusing on the environmental and social sustainability of bioenergy development.

Anne-Sophie holds a M.A. in political science from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, Germany. A German national, she has lived in the US, Lithuania and Switzerland before moving to the UK in 2013.
